Small world, I searched Google Images for a Canada Post Logo today to use on my own blog and downloaded a nice looking one that just happened to be from cousin Colin's blog. Of all the logos in all the websites with all the names Canada Post... coincidence or?

Oh, and I agree. My accountant has sent me two packages to my home recently. Both returned by Purolator to a distant recovery point in my absence where they lingered. At least Canada Post would have been around the corner at the convenience store depot.

Similar issues here. Very unreliable.
Often when I get a call my laptop will ring, but when I go to receive the call it won't connect and I have to resort to my iPhone which I have set up to simultaneously ring. The application UI on my Macbook Pro is flaky at best. Call display doesn't work on the computer. Sound quality is unreliable...sometimes great and sometimes they complain about me breaking in and out. (which is never a complaint when I'm using my iPhone directly) Contact synching only sometimes works and I have not figured out how to initiate the synch. If I close my laptop screen to put it to sleep, when it awakes the connection is always lost and requires going back to the R1 screen to log back in. (this might be normal, just not convenient.) And the worst thing is it may have affected my normal mobile phone behaviour where some callers have said they tried to call me and not only did I not answer but my VM was not available. When this happens I am not logged into R1 anywhere. Perhaps I did not logout properly and it thinks I'm still using R1?? Anyway, I was hoping to use as a business tool to call from R1 using my mobile number without using up my daytime minutes. Not working as expected. :-(

I just set up my R1 account and am having the same issue with the detection of another (ghost) computer and auto-logoff. I also am having problems getting access to the contacts I have successfully synced from my iPhone. I get the message "
Sorry. We are unable to retrieve contacts." Rogers support is working on the problem. The other issue I'm having is drastic echo for the other party when I use the service hands-free, a problem I don't have with Skype either calling PCs or phones.

R1 looks like a good service but there are some significant bugs they need to get rid of before it is usable.

I think without CID validation people will continue to trust their phone less and less. I would think this would be a strong motivator for phone companies... The problem is largely solved with IM, Skype, iMessage etc.. where I can maintain a "friend" list of people that can communicate with me. Even email with address based spam filters has been fairly successful...

Unfortunately, many robocalls don't even originate in Canada. The phone system doesn't actually validate the CID information. It comes from the originating side of the call and can be made to be anything. It would probably be almost impossible to enforce valid CID data. The CRTC could create a rule, but the phone companies would put up a fight, as it would add expensive complexity to their networks for no added revenue.

I have been using rogersone for couple of months, I pretty much have
the same issues. service disconnects when I open it on another computer,
really dislike that the call buttons disappear after I pick up the
call. I've also been told that there's an echo in my voice calls, which is weird cause I'm
using macbook pro's onboard mic which has an excellent echo cancellation feature.

there are definitely a few kinks in rogersone service, hopefully those
will be addressed quickly providing an awesome canadian service rivaling
google voice.

I have the UPS and DHL apps, I never thought Canada Post would have an app. I haven't found either the UPS or DHL very useful and I don't get any notification of deliver or delivery attempts. Its basically the same as searching online...

I agree with your comments. And I'd like to add that the CanadaPost iPhone app is outstanding. Best feature is that you can select/take any picture with your phone and have them print out and mail a post card for under 3 bucks. My parents have been thrilled with pictures of their grandkids.

Colin, have you tried their (Canada Post, DHL, etc) mobile apps for getting their tracking notifications? I haven't tried it myself but I imagine they might have some kind of notification beside just tracking your package.
