I wanted to formally share some exciting news from my professional life. Effective yesterday, Ascentum Inc has been acquired and will be joining the Hill+Knowlton Strategies family.  I’ve been with Ascentum for 3 years and as you probably know Ascentum specializes in helping businesses, government and not-for-profit organizations facilitate and create dialogue with stakeholders via online, in-person and social media-based strategies and tools.

The background? As we all know, public engagement is a critical component of today’s public relations and public affairs landscape. Attitudes and behaviours related to how and when we receive and share information are changing, and the public now expects to be involved in decision-making and fully engaged in discussion around issues that affect them. These new expectations are having a profound effect on government and on business, which need to consider and be seen to consider the public’s seat at their boardroom table.

I’m pretty excited to be moving over as Director of Social Media and getting to know everyone in both the Toronto and Ottawa offices.
