Heroes of Olympus trades Percy’s single narrator for a rotating cast of seven demigods, and this is where that ensemble finally works as a unit.
It is a less quirky series than Percy Jackson. More plot machinery, a bigger map, Roman and Greek camps circling each other. The payoff is Annabeth getting a quest of her own rather than supporting someone else’s.
Then it ends on the cliffhanger that makes book four what it is.
