The 2003 memoir, covering the White House years from the inside, written while she was a sitting senator and reading like it.

The health care chapters are the substantive part. A failed attempt at system-level reform, told by the person who ran it, with enough detail about the opposition and the procedural traps to be genuinely instructive.

It is careful to the point of airlessness in places, which is what a memoir written mid-career has to be.

Read July 2016, during the campaign, which was deliberate on my part.
