Two sisters. One is a concert pianist who wants to die and has said so clearly. The other spends the book trying to keep her alive and eventually has to decide what she owes a person who has asked for the opposite.
It is very funny, which is the part people are not prepared for. The humour is not relief from the subject, it is how the family talks to each other about it.
Drawn closely from the author’s own life, which is worth knowing and makes the refusal to resolve anything cleanly land differently.
