The 1998 run that rebuilt T’Challa, narrated by Everett K. Ross, a State Department functionary who spends most of it out of his depth and explaining events out of order.
That framing is the whole trick. Putting a bewildered bureaucrat in the narrator’s chair lets the comic treat Wakanda as a serious sovereign state with its own interests, while Ross keeps being surprised that the king is several moves ahead of everyone including the reader.
It is also very funny, which is not how this character usually gets handled.
