The argument is that categories are getting less useful faster than we are giving them up. Job titles, demographics, market segments, org charts. All of them freeze something that has already moved.
Full-spectrum thinking is offered as the alternative: looking for pattern and clarity without forcing the thing into a box, while resisting the false certainty a box provides.
Importantly it is not an argument against categories altogether. It is an argument for holding them loosely, which is a harder discipline and a much harder thing to put in a strategy deck.
Futurist books age quickly. This one has held up better than most because the claim is about a habit of mind rather than a forecast.
