A man is pulled out of the Mediterranean full of bullet wounds with no memory, and spends the book finding out what he is capable of well before he finds out who he is.
The amnesia works as a device because the reader discovers his competence at the same moment he does. He strips a weapon correctly and is horrified by his own hands.
Almost nothing in common with the films beyond the premise and the name.
Read April 1981.
