Five books of accumulated mythology and foreshadowing paying off at once.

The battle for Manhattan runs most of the length, which is ambitious for middle grade and mostly works. Characters die, including one whose death lands harder than anything earlier in the series, and none of it gets reversed.

The ending is the part I appreciated most. Percy is offered the thing every hero story ends with and asks for something smaller and more useful instead.

Read May 2022, finishing the run.
