A supernova kills everyone over the age of thirteen and the children are left to run the world, having been given about a year of handover.
An earlier novel than the trilogy and much cruder, and the ideas are recognisably from the same person. The children do not rebuild the adult world. They reorganise it around play, and the consequences of that are followed with no sentiment at all.
Read October 2021, after finishing the trilogy.
