A lawyer kills a woman with his car, is let off, and is cursed by her father to lose weight continuously and without end.

Another Bachman book, and the slightest of the run I read. The curse is a straightforward moral mechanism and the book never complicates it much beyond watching a comfortable man discover there is no one he can buy off.

Read April 1987, four years after Firestarter started the whole run.
