The structural gamble. The crew of the Rocinante gets split up and scattered, which means giving up the thing most readers show up for.
It pays off completely. Four books of knowing these people as a unit, then watching who each of them is alone. Meanwhile the political arc that has been building since book one detonates.
Best in the series for my money, and the one I would hand to anyone who said it was getting repetitive.
