The authors call this one a noir and that is the right frame. A missing person case, a detective who will not let it go, and a ship’s crew who stumble into something much larger than the job in front of them.
What sold me is the setting. A solar system split between Earth, Mars and the Belt, with Belters treated as the exploited labour that makes everything else possible. The physics mostly behaves. Ships have to decelerate. Distance costs time.
